Kliebert's Alligator Farm was the first alligator farm to open in the United States. My grandfather Harvey Kliebert was the first person to actually start commercializing alligators in the whole world. Basically he started the gator industry. We have been raising gators for nearly 5 decades. Our facility is on 32 acres and is still one of the largest alligator farms remaining. Now we have several ponds and over thousands of gators literally.

1957 , when it all began, my grandfather went to the swamps and hand picked 250 eggs. Incubating the eggs in a certain degree lets you determine the sex of the alligator. Knowing that, Harvey made 200 females and 50 males for breeding purposes. So the ratio is 4 to 1. As the gators mature they become the breeding stock to where we collect the eggs and started harvesting them.

1965 was the year we started dealing with turtles. The purpose of the turtles was to collect eggs, to incubate the eggs, hatch the eggs separate the different species of turtles then ship them off to different countries like China. The farm has over 40,000 turtles today.

The business got larger and more popular than people might realize. We opened up to the public in 1984. We are dedicated to the preservation of the American alligator and believe that raising them and finding ways to market them we are contributing to their ultimate survival. All of the processing is done at the farm. We do all the processing of the meat and waste no part of the gator.
